Introduction to the Dhammapada –

An audio recording inviting engagement with the Dhammapada ….written by James Low.

This audio recording is formed from the introductions to the Dhammapada, written by James Low in his book Finding Freedom.

Together with the commentary they form the first section of the book. The other two sections are of Mahayana and Dzogchen teachings.

In the book James gives an explanation of these views…the methods and the results of engaging with these different aspects of Buddhist teachings and how they can facilitate our journey to the realisation of freedom.

‘Invitation’

Each section is based around a text or texts which are like precious gems. The brilliance of each gemstone will be revealed in the light of our engagement with it.
Its potential to shine for us has been enhanced by the way in which it has been cut and polished, and also by its setting.

In these recordings the Dhammapada is the gem…
and it is the cutting and polishing in the Commentary, together with the setting in the Introduction, which help us open to full appreciation.

I created the original recordings partly in response to the needs of people in a group I facilitate… where engagement with the book’s introduction would naturally occur.
The introduction has significant impact on its own but is invaluable in elucidating the frame of reference, making for a much easier engagement with the text.
The recordings have been downloaded a great many times and I very much hope that this introduction/context will catch up with them and spread out similarly.

So if you have shared the link to the Dhammapada recordings please would you also share the link to this, so that the text and its setting are brought together.

Thank you for your help with this… and I hope you will enjoy your bathe in its illuminating rays!
